Profile
Currently his primary interest is in the arena of third party certification and accreditation. Stephen Feltham has been an enthusiastic supporter of the right of freedom of trade and the need to avoid the constraints and restrictions imposed on business, especially small firms, arising from red tape and the cartels and monopolies presented by the 'standards lobby'. He has foreseen that the imposition of standards has resulted in many organisations diverting attention away from the achievement of quality products and services and into the provision of 'evidence' and systems records and, in consequence, diverting resources from the growth and improvement that business had really aspired to.
Has extensive experience in business consultancy specialising in setting up and maintaining of Quality Systems to ISO 9000, Business Growth and restructuring programmes. Has employed many consultants as PAYE and also on sub-contract and other associates and networks. Has advised on Investors in People to Business Links and Training and Enterprise Council clients.
Quality systems auditing and assessment is undertaken as well as advice given to third party certification bodies on state of art auditing techniques for quality and other management systems.
Previously listed by the dti as quality and production management consultants.
Has provided lecturing and tutoring services in Quality Systems and techniques to the Open University. Guest Lecturer to RMCS Shrivenham and to Central Services Development Establishment, Swanton Morley. Lecturer in Product Liability and Quality at the Universities of Birmingham and Bournemouth.
Clients have included Ministry of Defence, British Rail, Atomic Energy Authority, National Power, Local Councils, and many small firms from diverse industries. Has published an acclaimed Workbook on quality systems and many papers on quality assurance, and was also a British Standard Committee member on CH/66 responsible for the writing of EN 46001 and derivatives.
