QBSA offer a service in the Conformity Assessment field of Assessment and Certification of management systems. Typically ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are addressed but other specialised subjects such as those covered by BS 7799 and PAS 43 also come within the remit of this arrangement.

This year, World Quality Day falls upon November 11th.
A few organisations will be doing something to mark this day which is intended to enhance awareness of the importance of the Quality discipline to our professional and personal lives.

Quality Standards: Public protection or Professional scam?  

The quality profession has never been short of conviction of the high ground it holds regarding its own moral fibre, integrity and right to be flag bearer for the public good. But are these self beliefs really warranted?

In recent months it has become fashionable to knock auditing for compliance.

I wonder if in the last week I have observed what too many quality managers have bemoaned for years.  That is: 'the business puts financial performance ahead of quality'.

I was intrigued to watch a Trevor McDonald ITV Tonight programme a few weeks ago about "Cowboy Tradesmen".  It was a typical piece of journalism in that it gave to viewers what viewers like to see; bad news. It omitted to point out that there are thousands upon thousands of conscientious tradesmen with sound business ethics that strive really hard to satisfy their customers. But then, there is nothing really very newsworthy in that is there?

 ISO offers free-of-charge ISO 9001:2000 'auditing kit' online.  

Twenty guidance modules on specific aspects of auditing ISO 9001:2000 quality management systems (QMS) are available free of charge from ISO and another three are being developed. (The modules are available online only).
