This month's newssheet is intended to give you the latest update on what we have learned is happening in the world of quality.
A significant event is the celebration of World Quality Day by the Institute of Quality Assurance. They are organising a splendid 'bash' at Shakespeare Globe Theatre by the Thames at Southwark, London. The day is being used as a vehicle for The Institute's John Loxham lecture and Awards Dinner. Further details are at http://www.iqa.org/awardsdinner/
Following the lecture, IQA will host its first ever awards dinner at the prestigious UnderGlobe reception at Shakespeare's Globe, www.shakespeares-globe.org It really is a truly remarkable venue, where IQA will be honouring their members for quality performance and academic achievement over the past year. The Awards include the prestigious IQA National Award, an honour recognizing the very best thesis on any aspect of quality from a student or professional, and the IQA Diploma in Quality to those who have completed the IQA-approved higher level qualification course in quality.
Immediately after the awards ceremony, comedian and writer Gyles Brandreth (Host of ITN Radio's Weekly Arts and Entertainment Review, editor-at-large for Sunday Telegraph Review) will provide an after dinner comedy show that promises to be thoroughly entertaining.
It will be an evening promising celebrations that you would certainly not want to miss.
We have also learned that Aegis Verity the exciting new entry to the assessment and certification market place will also be launching their activities on that day.
Aegis Verity are one of the sponsors for the IQA awards dinner and have bought to the quality profession not only a desire to support the establishment by sponsoring the IQA's awards dinner but also innovations in the technical aspects on how auditing and assessment may be conducted by an accredited third party certifying organisation.
QBSA wishes Aegis Verity every success and confidently predict that this non-profit making Industrial and Provident Society, registered with the Financial Services Authority, accredited by ASCB(E) and supported by the European Social Fund, will make a significant contribution to the certification scene in the next few years.
Quality of Life November 11th is also Armistice Day. There was tremendous slaughter and sacrifice in the Great War and in many wars since. One may be mindful of the responsibility each of us bears to ensure that the personal sacrifices by others for a decent quality of life are realised today by our professionalism and contribution: to quality management, to quality products, to society and to the quality of life in general.
