Congratulations to ASCB(E) They have noted the ISO 9004:2000 Appendix II guideline for organisations who wish to perform self assessment for compliance with ISO 9001:2000. ASCB(E) have accredited a scheme whereby organisations can achieve certificated registration to ISO 9001 based upon self assessment. Several levels of safeguard are built into the scheme including rigid control of the audit method, demonstrated auditor competence, sampling schemes of documentation records and evidence and sampled short notice visits to organisations. Indications to date suggest that this very cost effective method of certification will have significant appeal to many small organisations who traditionally, received little return from the visits of some conventional certification body auditors.
